Free email marketing tools in 2026 need a fresh comparison. Contact caps, sending allowances and trial features have changed since this guide first appeared. Mailchimp, Brevo and MailerLite are three services to compare; none is the best choice for every business.
This is a comparison of published plan information, not a hands-on deliverability test. The earlier references to “LookingLion” do not establish a separate provider, customer relationship or endorsement.

1. Mailchimp: check the size of your audience
Mailchimp currently lists a Free Marketing plan for up to 250 contacts. Its paid-plan trials are separate offers. Check the contact ceiling, monthly sends, daily limits and branding before importing an existing list. A free account is useful only if the actual audience fits its limits.
2. Brevo: plan around a daily sending limit
Brevo’s official Free-plan help page lists 300 email sends per day, with unused allowance not carried forward. A campaign larger than that allowance may need to be spread over days using the requeue option. Include transactional messages when assessing capacity.
3. MailerLite: separate free features from the trial
MailerLite offers a Free plan and also advertises a time-limited trial of premium features. Confirm which editor, automation, subscriber and sending capabilities remain after the trial ends. Use the current Free-plan page rather than copying a limit from an older review.
A practical comparison checklist
- Calculate subscribers multiplied by planned campaigns, then include welcome and transactional messages.
- List the features needed after the trial: forms, automation, segmentation, exports and support.
- Send a test campaign to your own devices and check layout, links and unsubscribe behavior.
- Compare the first paid tier at your expected audience size rather than its headline starting price.
Sources and update notes
Plan information checked on October 25, 2026. This revision replaces the outdated SendinBlue naming with Brevo and removes unsupported blanket claims about results. Limits can change; check the provider before signing up.
